LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI –
Michigan State Police say they're hoping to get new information about the 1971 slaying of a gas station attendant.
The agency announced Monday that it is continuing to investigate the shooting death of 18-year-old Ray McFarland in Ingham County's LeRoy Township, about 20 miles east of Lansing. He was killed Nov. 23, 1971 in an apparent armed robbery that netted $132.
Police say detectives investigated several possible suspects following the killing until the case went cold in 1978. State police in 2004 resubmitted DNA and ballistic evidence for analysis and continue to investigate potential leads.
