Spartans pull away late to earn a 72-60 victory over Wofford

By AP

East Lansing, MI – EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Raymar Morgan scored a season-high 19 points and Kalin Lucas had 13 to help No. 9 Michigan State to a 72-60 victory over Wofford on Friday night.

Despite the victory giving Michigan State 44 consecutive non conference wins at home, Coach Tom Izzo feels his team has alot of growing if they want to to matter come March.

The Spartans (6-2) bounced back from an 89-82 loss at North Carolina (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) on Tuesday but weren't sharp for much of the game. They led 48-44 midway through the second half.

Noah Dahlman (younger brother of Spartan guard Isaiah Dahlman) led the Terriers (4-5) with 19 points and got the better of his brother, Isaiah, who started and scored two points for Michigan State.

After a win at Georgia, narrow losses at Pittsburgh and Bradley and a respectable showing at Illinois, Wofford should have had the Spartans' attention.

But Michigan State trailed 9-4 before a 12-2 run, then led 31-26 at halftime. Leading 43-41, the Spartans finally pulled away with a 12-3 spurt.
