Governor Rick Snyder says he’s opposed to abruptly scrapping Michigan’s incentives to attract film and video productions.
The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Rick Pluta has more.
Governor Snyder is no fan of the incentives and acted early in his administration to cap them at no more than 50 million dollars a year. And he says he’d like to see them eventually phased out.
“We’ve had a cap for a number of years and at some point there should be a gradual ramp-down of it,” he says.
But he’s not supporting a bill that would eliminate the film incentives in October. He says that would not be fair since some companies have already made business decisions that rely on them.
