Smart Spartan: Draymond Green pulls through at MSU

By AP

EAST LANSING, MI – Michigan State's Draymond Green says his savvy skills stem from learning how to
play the right way growing up in Saginaw.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley remembers "Day-Day" always getting up after being knocked down when older kids let him play at the Civitan Recreation Center.

Saginaw High School coach Lou Dawkins recalls watching Green make incredible passes and play with a basketball IQ beyond his years when he was just 10.

Spartans coach Tom Izzo puts Green among the top five most intelligent players he has known, a list topped by Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

Michigan State will lean as heavily as it ever has on the do-it-all Green when it meets Northern Iowa on Friday night in the Midwest Region semifinals.
