Sentencing documents due in ex-Detroit mayor case

By AP

DETROIT – Documents related to the sentencing of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick are due before a judge overseeing his probation violation case.

Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner has told the county prosecutor's office and attorneys representing Kilpatrick to file sentencing memoranda by Monday. Kilpatrick is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.

Groner also told both sides not to disclose the contents of a pre-sentence report by the state Corrections Department. Probation officials have recommended jail time for Kilpatrick.

Groner ruled in April that Kilpatrick violated terms of his probation by failing to report assets and turn over tax refunds.

Kilpatrick spent 99 days in jail as part of pleas in two criminal cases.
