Senator Stabenow will not endorse gov candidate

By Laura Weber, Michigan Public Radio Network

LANSING, MI –

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow says she will not endorse a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor before the primary election. She says she expects any of the candidates would do well against the Republicans, who have been leading in the polls.

She says recent action from Democrats in Congress should help create a positive view of Democrats throughout the country.

"Nationally, if people want to talk about what's happening nationally, the difference between the eight years of the Bush Administration and what is beginning to turn under the Obama Administration is very hard, because they were handed a huge hole," she says.

Stabenow says she is satisfied with all of the Democratic candidates for governor, including Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, state House Speaker Andy Dillon and state Representative Alma Wheeler Smith.
