LANSING, MI – The state Senate has approved Governor Granholm's appointment of directors for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
Granholm named Rebecca Humphries to lead the new Department of Natural Resources and Environment. She had served as the director of the Department of Natural Resources, which was combined with the Department of Environmental Quality.
Republican state Senator Patti Birkholz chairs the Senate panel that oversees environmental issues. She says Humphries is a person of integrity and professional experience.
The Senate also re-confirmed Don Koivisto as director of the Department of Agriculture.
