Rabid Bat Found in Ingham County

A wild animal in Ingham county is the first infected with rabies in Michigan this year. 

The state of Michigan said a big brown bat is the first to be infected with rabies this year.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said the bat was discovered in Ingham County.

The department said this is the time of year when rabies is first reported.

Last year, there were 37 rabid bats and four rabid skunks in our state.
