QuizBusters Semi-Finals Begin

Youth from mid-Michigan will get one step closer to winning tuition scholarships to Michigan State University in the QuizBusters semi-finals, airing over two weekends beginning May 11. Hosted by Matt Ottinger, these next games determine who will compete in the Division Championship and Grand Championship matchups, airing in primetime on Wednesday, May 22, as the QuizBusters Championship Series.

On Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m., the Green Division will feature Lansing Eastern versus Lansing Everett.

Playing on the team for the Lansing Eastern Quakers are Thierry Laurens, Jonatan Hudy-Velasco, Ben Hudy-Velasco and team captain August Stover. Tyler Blakslee is the team advisor.

Playing for the Everett Vikings are Nick Thompson, Sharaya Lundy, Tariq Brown and team captain Tyler Gilson. Benton Billings is the team advisor. The Vikings won the Green Division Championship in 2012.

In a QuizBusters White Division semi-final game, airing Saturday at 6:30 p.m., the Hillsdale Academy Colts take on the Kent City Eagles.

Playing for Hillsdale Academy are Dillon Murry, Clayton Thorrez, Dean Robinson and team captain Andrew Ruchames. Andrew Holm is the team advisor. This is the Colts' first year on QuizBusters.

Playing for the Kent City Eagles are Neisha Thompson, Weston Bernath, Eric Wagenheim and team captain Justin Jasman. Marie Davis is the team advisor.

QuizBusters is wrapping up its 24th season. Host Matt Ottinger has been throwing out questions for the contestants since the show began.
