Protection order alleges harassment by prosecutor

By AP

ANN ARBOR, MI –
The openly gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor details in a personal protection order request the frequency of alleged
harassment by an assistant state prosecutor.

Chris Armstrong states in the petition filed Sept. 13 in Washtenaw County Trial Court that 30-year-old Andrew Shirvell has followed him across the school's campus and through the city of Ann Arbor since April.

He says the episode has been "incredibly hurtful and distressing" and that Shirvell's actions "have been an outright attack" on his ability to live his life openly.

Shirvell has targeted the 21-year-old Armstrong in an online blog, calling him a racist with a "radical homosexual agenda."

Shirvell went on personal leave Thursday.
