The political ads will go silent as voters head to the polls Tuesday. As we hear from Michigan Public Radio's Rick Pluta, the candidates for governor spent Monday on the campaign trail making final pitch to voters.

AUDIO:
Democratic nominee for governor Virg Bernero says voters can still prove wrong pollsters and pundits predicting a near-sweep by Republicans. The mayor of Lansing wraps up his campaign tonight at a rally in his hometown.

Republican nominee Rick Snyder will wind up his campaign in his hometown of Ann Arbor. He said today that it's been fun, but he's anxious to wrap up his year-and-a-half-long campaign for governor.

"We've got an extremely full plate," he said. "We have a broken economy and government, and we need all hands on deck to roll up their sleeves and go to work. I'm excited about it."

The Michigan Campaign Finance Network says political parties and outside organizations that don't have to report where their money comes from easily outspent what candidates spent in statewide races this year.

There are other races on the ballot. They include attorney general, secretary of state and the Michigan Supreme Court. There are also at least three competitive congressional races, and control of the Legislature is at stake.
