No. 21 Michigan State beats Florida Gulf Coast

EAST LANSING, MI – Jasmine Thomas scored 15 points and reserve Lauren Aitch added 14 and No. 21 Michigan State unleashed a 3-point barrage to beat Florida Gulf Coast 94-71 on Sunday.

The Spartans (7-3) broke a school record with 13 3-pointers in just 19 attempts, including making nine of 12 in taking a 57-27 halftime lead.

Michigan State shot 64.9 percent from the field, including 71 percent in the first half, when its lead swelled to 36 points.

Brittney Thomas scored 13 points, Kalisha Keane 12, Allyssa DeHaan 11 and Porsche Poole 10 for the Spartans, who had 26 assists.

Florida Gulf Coast (4-3) also hit 13 threes but needed 31 tries and shot better beyond the arc than inside it.

The Eagles' Adrianne McNally, a Michigan native, led all scorers with 21 points. Eglah Griffin added 14 and Chelsea Lyles and Kelsey Jacobson had 12 each.
