LANSING, MI –
The Legislature is nearly done with the state budget. Lawmakers are expected to wrap up the work Wednesday evening.

AUDIO:
The state House has approved all the department budgets, but not before tempers flared over the controversial spending plan for the Department of Human Services. Lawmakers also approved a measure that keeps discussions alive on a possible second bridge between Detroit and Canada.

The House now waits on the Senate to give final approval to the budgets before they are sent to the governor for her signature. Governor Granholm is expected to make vetoes within some of the budgets, but the budget is essentially put to bed for the coming fiscal year, two days away from the October 1 deadline.
