MSU gets $600K for 2nd-degree nurse scholarships

By AP

EAST LANSING, MI – EAST LANSING, MI (AP) - Michigan State University has received a $600,000 donation to provide scholarships for nursing students in its second-degree accelerated degree program.

The grant is from the Helene Fuld Health Trust. It includes $300,000 for direct aid to students in the next three years and $300,000 to endow future scholarships.

The scholarships are for students in the College of Nursing's accelerated second-degree bachelor's program.

The school created the program in 2005 for students who already hold bachelor's degrees in other fields. Students can finish the program in 14 months, and it's designed to quickly add nurses to the work force.
