Mitt Romney visits Michigan to aid Rick Snyder

By AP

LANSING, MI – Ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney says he's endorsing fellow Republican Rick Snyder for Michigan governor and will campaign with him this week.

Romney's staff says he'll travel to Michigan on Monday for campaign events with Snyder. Details weren't released.

Snyder and Democratic Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero are competing to succeed Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who's barred from seeking re-election by term limits.

Romney said Sunday that Snyder's background as a businessman and "job-creator ... makes him uniquely qualified to lead Michigan through these challenging economic times."

Bernero told WJR-AM last week that his government experience gives him tools Snyder hasn't shown that will be needed by Michigan's next governor.
