DETROIT, MI – It may not seem surprising that Milliken, a Republican, is endorsing a Republican for governor. But he has not always been quick to throw his support behind Republican candidates. He has been outspoken about his discontent with the direction of the Republican Party in recent years. But he thinks Snyder will appeal to the same moderate demographic he once did. And he thinks that will translate to working well with the Legislature.
"I think I have every confidence that Rick Snyder will make every effort to work cooperatively and carefully with the Legislature and with both political parties," Milliken says.
Milliken also says he likes that Snyder views the resurgence and success of Detroit as key to Michigan's recovery.
