A survey of some of Michigan’s largest employers suggests more hiring is in store this year.

The Business Leaders for Michigan survey quizzes some of the state’s largest employers, representing about a third of the state’s economy. It finds more than half are optimistic about prospects for the next six to 18 months, says Kelly Chesney.
“They’re feeling optimistic because the economy is growing again,” she says. “We’re seeing lower energy costs. These all translate into a growing confidence for our employers.”
Chesney says they expect that to translate into more hiring and investment. Michigan’s jobless rate has declined steadily, but remains above the national average.
