State lawmakers may consider allowing schools to take more snow days without having to make them up later.
We have more from The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Jake Neher.
Many Michigan school districts have already called off classes for six or more days because of snow and bitter cold. That’s the limit on how many days schools can close without tacking on extra time at the end of the school year.
State Representative Phil Potvin worries some districts may be less willing to cancel school in bad conditions once they hit that limit.
“Safety is the biggest issue here,” he says.
Potvin is sponsoring a bill that would increase the number of allowed cancellations from six days to nine days.
