Lansing State Rep. Andy Schor pursues school reforms

Oct 17, 2013

State Rep. Andy Schor (D-Lansing) proposes letting schools open before Labor Day, and would let at-risk schools stretch instruction days throughout the year.

Rep. Andy Schor is in his first term representing Michigan’s 68th House District.  The Lansing Democrat recently introduced two bills involving schooling in the state.

Schor says a balanced school calendar throughout the year faces the challenge of summer classes in buildings that don't have air conditioning. His bill would allow for a pilot program to help some districts pay for climate control conversions.
