Kids Can Learn STEM Vocabulary Through Play! | The Great American Read

May 25, 2018

WKAR Family produces the fourth and final video within the new video series on STEM vocabulary development through reading.

The third video, Kids Can Learn STEM Vocabulary Through Play, encourages having children say and act out new words while reading to help them learn about science. Learning new vocabulary words and about science at an early age is good for a child’s long-term success in school. Playful activities at reading time are a great way to improve a child’s vocabulary and science comprehension at the same time!

Further celebrate the power of reading this summer with a series of events and activities hosted by WKAR and The Great American Read. The Great American Read is an eight-part series, hosted by Meredith Vieira, that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey). It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.
