Jay Vincent due in federal court for guilty plea

By AP

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – GRAND RAPIDS, MI (AP) - Former Michigan State basketball star Jay Vincent is returning to federal court to plead guilty in a $2 million Internet scam.

An agreement filed last week shows Vincent will plead guilty to a fraud charge and a tax charge Tuesday in Grand Rapids.

Prosecutors say the 51-year-old Vincent and an associate defrauded people by charging them to become certified home inspectors.

He and Magic Johnson played on the 1979 Michigan State national championship team. Vincent spent the 1980s in the NBA with Dallas, Washington, Denver, San Antonio, the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia. He averaged 15 points a game.
