Ingham Cty says region is ready for swine flu

By Rob South, WKAR Radio News

East Lansing, MI – East Lansing, MI (WKAR Radio)

Ingham County healthcare providers and public safety departments are ready for a possible swine flu outbreak.

That was the message Tuesday from the director of the Ingham County Heath Department.

County Heath Department director Dean Sienko says he's been in contact with local hospitals, pharmacies and police and fire departments to plan a course of action if the swine flu is found here.

He says his priority now is to keep the public informed about the seriousness of the virus.

Anyone who suspects they are sick should call their health provider for help.

There have been no confirmed cases of the flu in Ingham County.

Officials are investigating five people in the county with flu-like symptoms.
