Hearing rescheduled for Mich. student's PPO request

By AP

ANN ARBOR, MI –

A hearing on a personal protection order request by the openly gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan has been pushed back three weeks.

The hearing, which had been scheduled for Monday, now will be held Oct. 25 in Washtenaw County Trial Court in Ann Arbor.

Chris Armstrong filed for the PPO last month, citing frequent harassment by assistant attorney general Andrew Shirvell over a five-month period.

The 21-year-old Michigan Student Assembly president says the 30-year-old lawyer heckled him during a speech, showed up at a late-night party at his off-campus house and called the Washington office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, where Armstrong held an internship.

Shirvell went on personal leave last week from his job in the attorney general's office.
