WKAR is pleased to announce that PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger will visit Michigan State University January 26 and 27 with opportunities for the public to hear from one of the most respected leaders in the media industry today.

Earning the Public’s Trust: Journalistic Integrity in a Modern Age | Friday, January 26, 3pm-4pm at WKAR Studios
Paula Kerger will provide insights on public television’s journalistic role 50 years after the signing of President Lyndon Johnson’s landmark Public Broadcasting Act. She will share how public media has the unique ability to foster civil discourse, which is becoming increasingly important amid a divisive and polarized media climate. She will also share how PBS and local stations are adopting new forms of storytelling and content delivery in news and public affairs programming, while preserving the high ethical standards that help to maintain the public’s trust.
The talk is open to the public and no reservations are required to attend!
PBS KIDS Day at WKAR | Saturday, January 27, 10am-2pm at WKAR Studios
Attend to hear from Paula Kerger (will speak at 10:45am in WKAR Studio A) and others, and then, stay for fun activities at the open house event. Activities include hands-on science investigations with the cast of WKAR’s Curious Crew, an obstacle course for kids, Potter Park Zoo animals, Impression 5 Science Center, and much more!
Also, meet Laura Sams and Robert Sams, the creators of the “Get Your Feet Wet” series, along with special guests from the PBS KIDS channel, Splash and Bubbles.
Both events take place at WKAR Studios, Communication Arts & Sciences Building, 404 Wilson Road, on the Michigan State campus.
