Dec 13, 2013

Dr. Frank Ochberg is an expert on the effects of violence and trauma.

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut happened a year ago tomorrow. Remembrances are flooding the airwaves, but Newtown officials have asked the media to stay away during this painful time for the families.

Frank Ochberg is a clinical professor of psychiatry at Michigan State University and an expert on post traumatic stress.

Ochberg says he thinks memorials like those remembering the shootings at Newtown can help the survivors of such a tragedy. He adds Sandy Hook parents have learned how to come together and reclaim their community.
