Last week, the city of East Lansing announced the formation of a Financial Health Review Team. The panel is being asked to review the city’s financial stability and make recommendations on new funding source and revenue options. They also will weigh in on future expenditure needs in the city. A big priority will be placed on dealing with anticipated shortfalls in pension payments and retiree health benefits. Those total around $100-million.
