Downtown Lansing library celebrates 50 years

The downtown Lansing branch of the Capital Area District Library opened 50 years ago. To celebrate, there’s a 50th birthday event Sunday afternoon at 1:30. You’ll be able to meet with staffers past and present, learn about its architecture, and see what’s been changed over the years if you haven’t been there in a while. The library, on South Capitol Avenue in Lansing, has a striking design, and a lot of work has been done in recent years to modernize the facility.

Current State’s Scott Pohl spent some time at the library to soak up some of its history with public services librarian Anne Rau and library assistant Mark Buzzitta.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
