Denno "cautiously optimistic" on MSU Trustee chances

By Mark Bashore, WKAR

EAST LANSING, MI –

A state government legislative aide says he is hopeful about his chances to become a Democratic nominee for the MSU Board of Trustees. Dennis Denno is the chief of staff for Senate Minority leader Buzz Thomas and also runs a polling firm.

"I feel pretty good right now," he says. "Obviously I need to get the nomination at the August Democratic party convention. I feel cautiously optimistic about that, and then we need a good Democratic year in November for our education candidates."

Denno says current trustee Diane Woodard is endorsing his bid. The other declared Democratic candidates for the Board's two openings are incumbent Colleen McNamara and former East Lansing Mayor Sam Singh. Denno made his comments on Michigan Public Television's "Off The Record" program, which airs on WKAR-TV.
