FREE – Thursday, December 1, at 7 p.m. | Watch the film and join the conversation on the true-life romantic comedy about an Indian American’s search for love with the help of his enormous extended family.Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by the Independent Television Service (ITVS), Independent Lens, and WKAR is excited to offer an advance screening of Meet the Patels, a film by Geeta Patel and Ravi Patel. The true-life romantic comedy explores the influences of culture and identity on the most intense, personal, and important part of one's life — love.

The evening begins with a full screening of the film and continues with conversation led by Amol Pavangadkar, director of Sandbox Studios at Michigan State University.

Amol arrived to the United States from India 14 years ago and will discuss his experiences in adapting to various cultural differences. Join in the discussion and share your own cultural experiences.

WKAR Indie Lens Pop-Up takes place in the Communication Arts & Sciences Media Auditorium (Room 145), 404 Wilson Road on the campus of Michigan State University. Parking is free (after 6 p.m.) in the Trowbridge Road parking ramp, near the South, Main Lobby. 

More About 'Meet the Patels"
Meet the Patels is a charming, real-life romantic comedy about Ravi Patel, an Indian American actor/comedian who enters into a love triangle between the woman of his dreams — and his parents. Filmed by Ravi’s sister, Geeta, in what started as a family vacation video, this warm and funny film reveals how, for a Patel, love is truly a family affair.
