WKAR's daily radio news and arts magazine, Current State was awarded Best in Category for Community Service at last night's Michigan Association of Broadcasters Broadcast Excellence Awards at the Lansing Center. Current State host Mark Bashore and producer Joe Linstroth created and produced the weekly 2013 series which continues to feature listener-nominated individuals and organizations who serve the Mid-Michigan community.
Also receiving Merit Awards were Morning Edition host and Current State producer Melissa Benmark for her series of interviews with Lansing Symphony Orchestra conductor Timothy Muffitt and WKAR Radio Station Manager Peter Whorf for his feature, "Violin CT Scan".
