On today's "Current Sports with Al Martin," Al begins by talking about his disappointment in the Detroit Tigers. Although they beat the San Diego Padres last night to end their eight-game losing streak, there seems to be no hope for the Tigers. Over the weekend, Al was also a ring announcer for his first UFC fighting event from the Lansing Center and was amazed at how intense things were from the perspective of the front row. He elaborates and brings the full results from Ron DeLeon Promotions. Austin Short, former Current Sports beat reporter and fight expert, comes on the show to discuss how the local fighting scene has certainly gained much attention and is thriving.  Last night was also the 2017 BET Awards.  The night was full of amazing performances and talented guests, but what is the BET Awards without some drama? Al talks about how the rap group, Migos got into two altercations throughout the night--the first with Joe Budden and the second with Chris Brown.  But, for Al and engineer Isaac Constans, Chance the Rapper was the highlight of the night. Chance won the humanitarian award last night as well as best new artist.  At only 24 years old, he has done so much for the city of Chicago and the youth in this country.  To open up the final segment, James Moore talks about the NBA Draft and the importance of decisions in a young athlete's life on the S.W.A.P. Meet. While there is reason to be excited for the opportunity, Moore passes along a word of caution. "Weekend Winners" goes local and beyond to finish it off.
