As coach recovers, Spartans enter Big Ten play 4-0

By AP

EAST LANSING, MI – After a stressful week following coach Mark Dantonio's heart attack, Michigan State had no trouble beating Northern Colorado on Saturday.

Now, the Spartans start Big Ten play, and they won't have any chance to ease in. They face No. 11 Wisconsin next weekend in a matchup of unbeaten teams.

Dantonio had a mild heart attack Sept. 19 in the hours after his team beat Notre Dame in overtime. He was released from the hospital Tuesday and even visited practice Friday, but offensive coordinator Don Treadwell took over his coaching duties for a 45-7 win over Northern Colorado. Dantonio's return is uncertain.

Michigan State moved up a spot to No. 24 in the AP poll Sunday.
