City could lose more tax revenue through property assessment appeals

By Rob South, WKAR News

LANSING, MI – LANSING, MI (WKAR) - Dozens of Lansing businesses are appealing their property tax assessments to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.

The list includes General Motors, The Stadium District and Jackson National Life Insurance. All three companies have received tax incentives to build in the city.

Jerry Ambrose is Lansing's finance director. He says the companies have a right to seek a lower assessment. Ambrose says he doubts the revenue loss will be as high as the $1.7 million reported by the Lansing State Journal.
