Bowman Forms Committee For Gubernatorial Bid

LANSING, MI –

Former state Treasurer Robert Bowman has formed a committee to explore a run for Michigan's Democratic gubernatorial nomination.

Bowman, now CEO of Major League Baseball's online and interactive media operations, filed the paperwork Thursday with the Michigan secretary of state.

He works in New York City but has a summer home in Harbor Springs, in northern Michigan. He's also president of the Michigan Education Trust.

The only two Democrats formally in the race are state Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. House Speaker Andy Dillon has indicated he plans to get in soon. Former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee also is considering a run.

Forming the committee will allow Bowman to raise and spend money as he weighs running.
