Bernero asks Snyder to back Obama's biz tax breaks

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero is asking his GOP rival to join him in urging Congress to back business tax breaks being proposed by President Barack Obama.

The Democratic president proposed the plan that would make it easier for small businesses to get loans at low interest rates some time ago. But the measure has stalled in the Senate.

Bernero wants Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder to co-sign a letter with him asking Congress to make passing the plan its first order of business when it returns to session next week.

Snyder campaign spokesman Bill Nowling says the Ann Arbor businessman is examining the legislation.

The measure has the backing of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups.
