Lansing Mayor and Gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero was in WKAR's studios for a state-wide call in show Monday. Bernero took questions from state residents about taxes, the economy and the environment. He said if elected Governor, he'll work with republicans and democrats to fix Michigan's problems.

"Look, I'm proud democrat, but not a rigid partisan," he said. "And there is a difference. I work with every one. And because there is an "R" in front of your name doesn't mean you may not have a great idea, and we'll take that idea and run with it."

As mayor of Lansing, Bernero is often criticized for his brash approach when working with the city council. On Friday WKAR will host a call-in program with Bernero's republican challenger, Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder.
