Banged-up Blackhawks and Red Wings meet in Game 5

By AP

DETROIT (AP) – DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings did just fine without Nicklas Lidstrom but don't want to push their luck when they host the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.

Lidstrom was out of action when Detroit routed the Blackhawks 6-1 to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference finals. Rookie Jonathan Ericsson filled in for the six-time Norris Trophy-winning defenseman.

The Wings say they hope they won't have to replace Lidstrom again in Game 5, which could send Detroit on to the Stanley Cup finals.

Coach Mike Babcock says Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk are feeling better, but the team plans to wait until both get a chance to skate before deciding whether they'll play.
