AAA Michigan: State gas prices up 12 cents

By AP

DEARBORN, MI – AAA Michigan says gasoline prices are up 12 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $2.90 after a leak forced the closure of a Chicago-area oil pipeline.

The auto club says Monday the statewide average is 36 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Traverse City area, where it's $2.75 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Ann Arbor area at $2.96.

Enbridge Energy Partners owns the Chicago-area pipeline. That's the same company that owns a pipeline that leaked hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil near Marshall in southern Michigan in July.

Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily.
