90.5 - Listen Local on Saturdays

90.5 becomes VERY local on Saturdays beginning this month. We've added some brand new programs to complement other recent local additions, making it a day that is all about your community.

From Current State Weekends through Wind & Rhythm hosted by MSU alumnus Doug Brown, Saturday afternoon listening at 90.5 is your local connection to music and the arts. Brand new is Primarily Piano -- an hour of classical piano performance hosted by WKAR's Peter Whorf.

Here's a look at the new line-up for Saturdays on 90.5 FM WKAR.

11 am | Current State Weekends
Current State reports from the recent week with timely segments focused on arts and culture with host Emanuele Berry.

Noon | What's New on WKAR
WKAR's Peter Whorf is your host for the latest orchestral, chamber, choral and contemporary music, plus interviews with today's best-known and emerging artists.

2 pm | 90.5 Community Concerts
Performance highlights from the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, MSU College of Music ensembles, and more. Recorded at concert performances in our mid-Michigan community. Hosted by WKAR's Jody Knol.

3 pm | NEW! Primarily Piano
A weekly, hour-long showcase of music for the keyboard from solo works to chamber music to great concertos by the masters.  Primarily Piano features the latest recordings of world-class artists, vintage discs, and pianists and ensembles throughout mid-Michigan. Hosted by WKAR's Peter Whorf.

4 pm | NEW! Wind & Rhythm with Doug Brown
A one-hour weekly broadcast devoted to the music of wind bands, hosted by MSU alumnus Doug Brown. The show features wind symphonies, ensembles, orchestras, concert bands, symphonic bands, and brass bands with small brass, reed, and percussion ensembles, too.
