700 outages remain after weekend storms in Mich.

By AP

DETROIT – Utility officials say about 700 outages remain scattered statewide after weekend storms packing high winds knocked out electricity to thousands of Michigan customers.

DTE Energy Co. spokeswoman Eileen Dixon said Monday that power had been restored to all but 200 of the utility's customers. At the peak, she said about 40,000 homes and businesses served by DTE were without power.

Consumers Energy spokesman Dan Bishop said about 500 outages remained after 24,000 of the utility's customers lost service during the storms.
