The government shutdown is temporary, lawmakers adopt new budgets, and the governor is dusting off her veto pen. The guest is Jessica Cooper, on the governors' prison release program.

Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper served on various courts for 28 years, including a seven-year term on the Michigan Appeals Court. Cooper was the first woman to become a judge in Southfield in 1978 and was the judge in the Jack Kevorkian case. She is currently embroiled in a dispute with the granholm administration over the release of prison inmates to reduce state prison costs.

Kyle Melinn, Stepahnie Cepak and Peter Luke join senior capitol correspondent Tim Skubick.
