Waiting for tax reform, budget talks are on hold, and local governments worry about GM and Chrysler tax appeals. The guest is Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith (D), candidate for governor.

Representative Alma Wheeler Smith announced this week she is running for governor. The South Lyon Democrat is no stranger to the contest -- she ran in 2002. Ms. Smith has served two terms in the state Senate, and is in her second term in the Michigan House where she serves on the Appropriations Committee, chairing the corrections budget subcommittee. She holds a degree from the U of M and was a former legislative staffer and TV producer.

Stephanie Cepak, Kathy Barks Hoffman and Kyle Melinn join senior capitol correcspondent Tim Skubick.
