The governor accelerates her timetable for dealing with the mayor of Detroit, the welfare department admits more mistakes, and the legal wheels are grinding on the reform Michigan government petition drive. The guest is Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Deborah Thomas.

On the Wayne County Circuit Court bench for 14 years, Judge Deborah Thomas is seeking the Democratic nomination to a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court and the right to take on incumbent Cliff Taylor. She holds a BA degree from Western Michigan and earned a MA and a law degree from Valparaiso. She is a former candidate for Detroit City Council, worked in the legal services department at the UAW and for the state and county governments before her election to the court in 1994.

Senior capitol correspondent Tim Skubick is joined by Chris Christoff, Kathy Barks Hoffman, and Kyle Melinn.
