Two former governors and a panel of former state officials outline how the state got into this budget mess and offer some options for getting out; and the flap over who will run the House Appropriation Committee. John Schwarz and Martin Taylor are the guests, discussing the governor’s Fiscal Crisis Committee report.
The governor formed a special bi-partisan committee to examine Michigan’s deficit, and asked the group to offer some options to address it. Former state senator John Schwarz was one of the Republicans on the panel and Martin Taylor was one of the Democrats. Both are long time veterans of state government. Taylor served during the Milliken administration and sits on the U. of M. Board of Regents. Schwarz was recently a member of Congress. They'll share some of the findings of the report, “Reform for the Common Good.”
With Dawson Bell, Kyle Melinn and Bill Ballenger.
