LANSING, MI – Governor Granholm will visit Michigan State University and Saginaw Valley State University Wednesday as part of her campaign to get the Legislature to vote for new revenue. She says the state is cutting too deeply into funding for K-12 schools and college scholarships.
ALLEN PARK, MI – Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz isn't sure how many players his team will be missing Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Several Lions players were injured in a 27-10 loss to Minnesota, but he only had a definitive status on defensive back Jack Williams on Monday afternoon. Williams suffered a "significant" knee injury on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, and will be placed on injured reserve.
EAST LANSING, MI – Michigan State's men's basketball team squares off against Gonzaga tonight as one of the featured matchups in ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. It'll be a game between two of the most successful basketball programs of the last decade. This will be the first meeting between the Spartans and Bulldogs since the epic triple-overtime showdown at the 2005 Maui Invitational. Game time is 8 p. m. at Breslin Center.
LANSING, MI – Fifty-five of 100 state troopers laid off this summer were back at work Monday. The Legislature budgeted money to rehire the troopers last month. But Governor Granholm delayed re-hiring the troopers. Granholm said she didn't want to restore the jobs if the troopers would be laid off again if there are more budget cuts in January.

LANSING, MI – Governor Granholm takes her campaign for revenue to college campuses this week. She will urge students and their families to press the Legislature to fund the Michigan Promise college scholarship, as well as restore other budget cuts.
DETROIT – General Motors Co. says it lost $1.2 billion from the time it left bankruptcy protection through Sept. 30, far better than previous quarters and a sign that the auto giant is starting to turn around.
The company also says it will begin repaying $6.7 billion in U.S. government loans with a $1.2 billion payment in December. It could pay off the full amount by 2011, four years ahead of schedule.
MINNEAPOLIS – Brett Favre passed for a season-high 344 yards, 201 to Sidney Rice, and the Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 27-10 on Sunday.
The Lions (1-8) joined the Houston Oilers, from Nov. 21, 1982 through Nov. 4, 1984, as the only NFL teams to lose 31 games in a 33-game stretch, according to STATS. They've played tough this season several times, as the Vikings can attest. But after a slew of injuries in this game and more poor pass coverage they dropped their 12th straight at the Metrodome.
