Economy 2009: MSU Beams Over Landing FRIB Project

There’s a new bright beam of light penetrating Michigan’s dark economic cloud.

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced that Michigan State University has been selected as the site of the new Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, or “FRIB.”

The decision bolsters MSU’s prestige as a leader in nuclear science research. Analysts predict the $550 million project will generate nearly twice that amount in economic activity and bring hundreds of jobs to the state.

WKAR’s Kevin Lavery reports.
