Economy 2009: MSU Set To Appoint New Top Fundraiser
A week after the University of Michigan announced the result of the most successful public university fundraising campaign in the nation's history, the man in charge is poised to leave for Michigan State University.
MSU Trustees today will vote on the appointment of Robert Groves as vice president for university advancement.
The U-of-M's Michigan Difference campaign netted $3,100,000,000, dwarfing the $1,400,000,000 raised by MSU's most recent capital campaign.
Groves told WKAR's Scott Pohl that the Michigan Difference was the fifth major capital campaign conducted by the University of Michigan. The MSU job was attractive to him because MSU is trying to build a similar tradition of private support.
