Election 2008: East Lansing Land Sale Proposals Go Before Voters
East Lansing voters are being asked to approve two measures allowing the city to sell the University Parking Ramp underground at the Mariott Hotel, along with the land now leased to the University Place Condominium Association.
A private, out-of-state investor has approached the city hoping to make a deal.
East Lansing Planning and Community Development Director Jim van Ravensway tells WKAR's Scott Pohl that if there ever is a sale, the city would retain ownership of Fountain Square and a plaza at the other end of the office building.
The city charter requires voter approval before sales can proceed.
