Vega participated in five campaigns in Europe from June 6, 1944, the morning of the D-Day invasion landing in Normandy, France at Omaha Beach, to the Battle of the Bulge, December 16, 1944-January 25, 1945.

Served in: United States and Europe.

Citations: Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal with 3 Bronze Conduct Knots, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, EAME (Europe-Africa-Middle Eastern) Medal with 5 Bronze Campaign Stars (for Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland & Central Europe) and 1 "Invasion Bronze Arrowhead Device" for D-Day invasion, WWII Victory Medal, and a French Presidential Military Decoration, as well as several lapel pins, patches, badges, and commemorative medals
