Get Involved! Volunteer

Volunteering for WKAR is a great way to meet new people and help support your public broadcasting stations!

WKAR Special Events

As an active participant in our community, WKAR hosts and participates in special events in mid-Michigan throughout the year. Volunteers help make this community outreach possible by staffing festival booths, assisting with in-studio events and sometimes even donning character costumes to delight our young WKAR viewers.

From time to time WKAR undertakes a special production that must draw on a range of resources -- including the gift of a volunteer's time. Reviewing archival materials, making phone calls, performing library research tasks -- these are just some of the things a volunteer might contribute to a WKAR Special event.

WKAR Radio Reading Service
Reading aloud as a WKAR Radio Reading Service volunteer can be a gratifying experience, bringing a world of printed material to those who are visually impaired or otherwise unable to read print.

Office Aide
Many WKAR volunteers enjoy assisting with preparing mailings, bulk photocopying and other office tasks.

And More

New volunteer opportunities are continually in development. If you don't see an interest of yours mentioned here -- feel free to suggest it. There are many ways you can help WKAR continue to bring quality television and radio to the capital region here in Michigan.
